Junior Josephian Chronicles Shined in Multi-Phase DSPC, Advance to RSPC
Despite many of them being first time participants, the student journalists demonstrated discipline, critical thinking, and the ability to work under pressure while competing against experienced writers from different schools.

CAVITE CITY — Student journalists from St. Joseph College of Cavite showcased their talent and perseverance as they actively participated and excelled in the different phases of the Division Schools Press Conference (DSPC), earning multiple awards and securing slots for the Regional Schools Press Conference (RSPC).
Junior participants high first school joined Phase 1: Press Start – The Digital Kickoff to Campus Journalism, which was conducted via Google Meet. This online phase served as an orientation and training activity that prepared the students for the competitive stages of campus journalism, particularly in adapting to digital platforms journalistic standards.
The Junior Josephians then competed in Phase 2: Ink Trials—DSPC’s First Cut to the Crown, held at Sta. Cruz Elementary School, where they delivered commendable performances in various categories. Reece Jylie F. Paredes placed fifth in Mobile Journalism (Secondary Filipino), while Vernalyn Joyce A. Alejandro secured sixth place in Pagsulat ng Balita (Sekundarya). Amethyst Julia B. Del Rosario earned sixth place in Editorial Writing (Secondary), and Alexandrea Yvonne Camagong also placed sixth in Column Writing (Secondary). Lexinne Joyce G. Ocasion ranked fourth in Science Article Writing (Secondary), while Rielle Mariz R. Guevarra finished sixth in Sports Writing (Secondary). Rachelle Ann C. Lomat achieved third place in Pagsulat ng Balitang Isports (Sekundarya), Brianne Rose M. Baat placed sixth in Copyreading and Headline Writing (Secondary), and Douanne Chrysia D. Reyes earned second place in Pagwawasto ng Sipi at Pag uulo ng Balita (Sekundarya).
Their strong performance in Phase 2 paved the way for advancement to Phase 3: Scribble to Victory—Second Stage of the DSPC Challenge, also held at Sta. Cruz Elementary School. In this round, Douanne Chrysia D. Reyes once again excelled, earning second place in Pagwawasto ng Sipi at Pag uulo ng Balita (Sekundarya), while Rachelle Ann C. Lomat secured third place in Pagsulat ng Balitang Isports (Sekundarya). Both students qualified to represent the division in the upcoming RSPC.
Despite many of them being first-time participants, the student demonstrated journalists discipline, critical thinking, and the ability to work under pressure while competing against experienced writers from different schools. The school administration and journalism advisers expressed pride in the students’ achievements, noting that their success reflects St. Joseph College of Cavite’s commitment to nurturing ethical, responsible, and competent young journalists.
The accomplishments of the Junior Josephians in the DSPC serve as a testament to how dedication and passion for campus journalism can lead to success and open opportunities for higher levels of competition.
